A Thousand Temples, A Thousand Dogs
This short personal documentary explores the spiritual and cultural significance of dogs within Bali’s indigenous traditions, contrasting these deep-rooted beliefs with the harsh realities of the island's dog meat trade. Through intimate storytelling and on-the-ground perspectives, the film delves into the emotional and spiritual conflicts faced by local communities, shedding light on how sacred values are challenged by changing social and economic pressures. Set against the vibrant yet complex backdrop of Bali, the documentary offers a thoughtful look at the tension between tradition, survival, and modernity.
A continuing photo series accompanies the film, capturing the sacred role of one of the world’s oldest indigenous dog breeds and its coexistence with the Balinese people.
